4 Tips for Throwing a Great Employee Appreciation Event

Throwing a Great Employee Appreciation Event to Express Your Gratitude

Employees are the heart of every company and most companies host some sort of employee appreciation event during the year. Unfortunately they aren’t always memorable or even fun. If you’re taking the time to put together an employee appreciation event, you want to make it something that your employees will actually enjoy and that will convey your gratitude for all that they do. Easier said than done, right? Wrong! With just a little bit of thought and effort, you can plan an employee appreciation event that will do exactly what it should- show your employees you care and show them a good time.

Here are 4 tips for throwing a great employee appreciation event

  1. Remember who it’s for: An employee appreciate event is for your EMPLOYEES so remember to tailor it to them. Think about the average age of your employees and what type of event they would all enjoy. If the majority of your employees are an older crowd, they may not enjoy a dark, crowded bar. Is your company organized into different teams? Consider a trivia night where teams work with each and against the others. Get creative and make it a party to remember.
  2. Make it fun: This goes along with number 1, but remember that you want your employees to have fun. A sit down meal and a nice restaurant may seem like a good idea, but it doesn’t really give people a chance to socialize with everyone and enjoy time with the coworkers they may not see as often. Make the event dynamic and set it up in such a way that employees can show up and leave whenever they want.
  3. Give something away:  Who doesn’t love to win something? Create a contest or game and give away a prize. It could be a cash prize or even a gag joke. Use your imagination. Having prizes will give the employees incentive to get excited about the party!
  4. Do something unique: You don’t want to just throw any employee appreciation event- you want to throw one that your employees will enjoy and remember so do something unique. Take the team to a ropes course or invite Cold Stone for a sweet treat!

Everyone needs a bit of reassurance that they're doing a good job and that someone appreciates their hard work - and hosting a great employee appreciation event helps you do that for your employees all at once! Remember, try to tailor the event to your employees and the company in general and get creative. When you use your imagination, you can come up with some really great ideas without breaking your budget. So what are you waiting for?
