Ruth Spiegel recognized as SFBJ 2014 Influential Woman
Each year, the South Florida Business Journal recognizes 24 of the region’s top businesswomen who have gone above and beyond for not only their companies, but all the communities they serve. This event recognizes women in South Florida who have strong records of leadership, performance and innovation in their industries plus meaningful community involvement.

Ruth is the owner of five franchises of Cold Stone Creamery in South Florida and is the Co-op President of Cold Stone Creamery for the South Florida Region. With an A.B.D in organization and policy studies from Baruch College, an M.B.A. with a concentration in management from Long Island University, and a B.A. in psychology from Hunter College, Ruth is no stranger to hard work.

No influential businesswoman stands alone or has walked by herself on her path to success. She recognizes that she stands on the shoulders of a number of influencers, says Ruth Spiegel, and she “commits to paying it forward.” Her optimism, an engaging personality and a willingness to “get my hands dirty” are attributes she believes resonate well with others and make her likeable. “And I’m a firm believer that likeability contributes to success,” she says.

In her efforts to support the community, it helps that her business is ice cream. “Everyone loves ice cream,” she enthuses. As such, requests pour in for sponsorships, donations and affiliations. The company has supported Make-A-Wish, Light the Night, and A Prom to Remember, among others. Ruth is also a member of Junior Achievement’s Circle of Wise Women. “This affiliation taps into my belief in the importance of education and providing an opportunity to all children to become productive members of society,” she says. “Each day offers an opportunity for learning. Don’t be afraid to ask for guidance and advice from those you respect.”

The ceremony recognizing the South Florida women that have made unique contributions to the community and business world will take place on Friday, September 5, 2014 from 11:30am-1:30pm at The Signature Grand in Davie, FL. There will be a silent auction to benefit Women in Distress and the event is sponsored by Comcast Business, Florida Internation University- College of Business, HSBC Bank, N.A. and The Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce.
